The Countdown Clock has chimed its famous ‘didily-dong’ countdown 27,000 times since its launch in 1982. And in that time its passed through 3 veteran presenters, the late Richard Whiteley, Des Lynam and its current anchor, Des O Conner. But even O Conner has seen the clock tick round too many times over the last year and has decided to leave Countdown, and concentrate on his 36th album.
So bets on as to who the new Countdown presenter will be. And one of the bookies favourites is TV presenter and BigBoxBingo compere, Greg Scott (that’s 2 vowels, 7 consonants, Countdown fans!). To see his current work, check him out on bingos.co.uk, where he presents their weekly £8 million bingo show on Sky TV channel 867, every Friday at 6:30pm. (If you do fancy tickets to his live weekly bingo games, obtain your tickets here!)
Other than his sparkling wit, and gap-toothed grin (his words, not ours!), why would our ‘Greggles’ be up alongside Michael Parkinson, Michael Aspel and Stephen Fry as potential new hosts for the popular show. Well, Scott was actually warm-up artist for the Countdown audience for a whole 13 years (not the SAME audience, obviously. It changed twice a day!), and he’s shined as anchor for ITVs Quiz Show, Quizmania. So to see if our favourite Bingo caller is the next Countdown Host, keep watching this space.
